I, Phone (2021)
__ lighting design __
I, Phone is a mobile portrait of the homo cellularis: the contemporary human in relation to the smartphone.
In his work, Rob Smorenberg searches for an aesthetic abstraction of everyday themes. I, Phone is a mobile portrait of the contemporary human in relation to the smartphone. The multitasking of scrolling, WhatsApping, taking a screenshot, and swiping accumulates into a virtual movement performance. An analog body surfs through time and space on a non-stop wave of information. Slowly, human and technology merge and a portrait emerges of… the homo cellularis.
